The Osun State Government has alerted members of the public to fraudulent publication regarding the federal government’s palliative.
The government which denounced the trending publications as fake declared that it did not emanate from the state Ministry of Finance.
Making this known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Akeem Bello on Thursday, the Osun State government urged members of the public to discount the publication, saying it was intended to mislead and swindle unsuspecting persons..
The statement, which hinted that at the appropriate time, the state government will issue information on palliative measures, added that it will be released to the public through designated government agencies and verifiable official channels.
The statement read, “The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a publication trending on social media, purportedly issued by the Ministry of Finance titled, “WELCOME TO FG 5B NAIRA OSUN STATE PALLIATIVE” requesting application from the general public on the palliative programme.
“This is to inform the good people of Osun State that the said publication did not originate from the Ministry of Finance or Osun State Government. Members of the public are therefore enjoined to disregard the publication as it is intended to mislead and swindle the people
“At the appropriate time, the State Government will issue information on palliative measures, which will be released to the public through designated government agencies and verifiable official channels.
“The Characters behind the fake and fraudulent publication are hereby warned to desist from this illegality, as the government has alerted the security agencies to unveil those behind the act and prosecute them accordingly when arrested.”
In another development, members of the fuel subsidy removal palliative committee in the state have enjoined the state government to put on hold the distribution of the three thousand bags of rice received from the federal government.
They revealed that the suspension became necessary to await the arrival of the fourteen thousand three hundred and twenty bags expected as the second batch.
The advice was given during a press conference in Osogbo on Wednesday.
Addressing the media, the chairman, Mustapha Olawuyi explained that the committee agreed that the distribution of the palliatives should begin after the state might have acknowledged the receipt of the second batch.
“The three thousand bags of rice available at present can not be sufficient for distribution without creating rancour in the society,” he said.
