It was outpouring of encomium as groups and individuals paid gglowing tributes to the daparted former chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Elder Bode Oyewole.
At a short but well attended event organized to honour the one time chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State chapter, which took place at the Dapo Aderogba hall, Press Centre, Iyaganku, speakers at the event all eulogised the two time 3SC boss, who died last Tuesday.
Speaking on behalf of the management of Shooting Stars Sports Club, the Director of Administration of team, Mr Rahman Olapade, described the late Oyewole as a man, whose love an interest for the Oluyole Warriors knew no bounds.
‘The man, Elder Bode Oyewole was a great man, going by his achievenment as a two time chairman of Shooting Stars.
‘In 1998, under his leadership, the club won double titles, the National League and the sub regional trophy, the WAFU Cup.
“Even after leaving office as the helmsman of 3SC, he never abandoned the club, giving words of encouragement and advice which benefitted the club in no small means.
Speaking further, Mr Olapde said. ” What can we say about this man, whose kindheartedness, meekness, love and care for others can neverbe quantified.
“Elder Oyewole is no more but his works and axhievements will continue to speak after him. He will be greatly missed in the football circle in general and in the 3SC family in particular”, he concluded.
Other personalities who paid tributes to the late veteran journalist included the General Manager, Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde, the Chairman, Oyo NUJ, Demola Babalola, the chairman, Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Niyii Alebiosu, his colleagues in the pen profession, his peers during his school days, friends among others.
