It was another pace setting record as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan held a sent forth programme for some of their longest serving staff.
At the colorful event held at the club’s secretariat at Jericho, on Thursday, the quartet of Mr Ganiyu Bello (Rondo), Mrs Olubunmi Aina (Iya Shooting), Mr Morufu Oladejo (Warrior) and Mr Ojo Oluwasanjo Thomas (Baba Ojo) were honoured for their selfless services.
Speaking at the occasion, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorese, said the sent forth held for the retirees, which was the first of its kind, was a further demonstration of the Governor Seyi Makinde’s committment to reward excellence in service.
“This is another pace setting .event that we are organising here. The present administration under His excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde values dedication and committment, that is why we want to appreciate these people for the services they have rendered for Shooting Stars all these years”.
The commissioner assured that the government will not stop at hoouring deserving personalities as a way of encouraging dedication to duty.
In his speech, the General Manager of the club, Rasheed Balogun, commended the retirees for their commitment and dedication to duty while serving the club.
He praised governor Seyi Makinde for giving his nod to the club to hold the event just as he eulogised the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede for his support.
Balogun hinted that an elaborate programme. would be organised as soon as the suspension on sporting activities in the country is lifted.
“We are going to have an elaborate ceremony where you will be openly celebrated. We will invite One of the top teams in the country, it could be Kano Pillars, Bendel Insurance or Enyimba and the money generated through gate taking from the friendly match would be given to you”.
Earlier, the Director of Administration of 3SC, Mr Rahman Olapade, gave details about the four retirees, whom he said deserved to rest after years of unblemished services to the club.
Alhaji Rondo is one of the longest serving club curators in Nigeria while both Warrior and Baba Ojo are among the longest serving drivers just as I ya Shooting, a well known female backer of the club, is one of the longest serving staff of the Oluyole Warriors.
Speakers at the event eulogised the quartet for serving the club to the best of their abilities even as they commended the state governor, the Sports Commissioner and the management of 3SC for holding such as epoch making occasion.
Cheques and customised jerseys were later presented to the retirees by the Commissioer, alongside the 3SC General Manager and the S.A (Sports) to the governor.
Dignitaries who graced the event included the Special Assistant (Youth and Sports) to the governor, Mr Oyewunmi Oluwatobi, 3SC Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), Mr Kehinde Ogundiran, 3SC Team Manager Dimeji Lawal, 3SC chief coach Edith Agoye, goalkeeper’s trainer, Lateef Yusuf, team coordinator, Adu Akintominyi,, team captain Waheed Omololu, Najeem Olukokun, Chairman General Spprts Suppprters Club, Oyo State, Mr Femi Oyeniyi Vice Chairman, 3SC Supporters Club, Alhaji Hammed, former Shooting Stars General Manager, Mutiu Adepoju, former chairman of the club, Pa Layiwola Lakondoro.among others.
