Cole Palmer has been named England Mens’ Player of the Year for 2023/24 after winning just nine caps for his country.

The Chelsea superstar has had a sensational time for club and country since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023.

His efforts for the Blues have been sensational, scoring 31 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as their most dangerous player and one of the most potent in the Premier League.

Unsurprisingly that kind of form saw him recognised at international level and Palmer made his England debut against Malta in November last year.

The 22-year-old has only made two starts for the Three Lions, with seven more substitute appearances, but has clearly made a huge impression across those nine games, scoring his first England goal in a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina and his second in the final of Euro 2024 against Spain.

Incredibly, he didn’t start any of England’s seven games at the European Championship this summer.

His performances have seen him names England Men’s Player of the Year in a remarkable 2024 which also saw him win Premier League Young Player of the Season, PFA Young Player of the Year, Chelsea Player and Player’s Player of the Season.

Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham took second place, while Arsenal icon Bukayo Saka came third, all voted for by England fans.

Saka had claimed the award in 2022 and ’23, with Kalvin Phillips the surprise winner back in 2021. Harry Kane has won it twice but not since 2018.

In a congratulatory message from his club, Chelsea wrote: ‘The award is further recognition of the 22-year-old’s influential and decisive performances for club and country since the start of last season.’
