2023: Youth groups charge PDP guber candidate on inclusion if he wins

PDP crisis: Atiku reveals when Senator Ayu will step down

Youth groups in Cross River State have called on Senator Sandy Onor not to ignore them if he wins the governorship election in 2023.

The groups claimed they were the major forces to enable his government succeed and that they have been sidelined for too long.

They made the appeal when PDP’s stakeholders, leaders and support groups met to reconcile themselves over the disagreement occasioned by power zoning.

Friction and bitterness had ensued when the party did not settle for a candidate from the southern senatorial district as it was their turn to produce a candidate.

Convener of the Town Hall meeting, a youth leader, Asu Abang appealed strongly that all should sheath their swords to enable the party move forward and realise their governorship goal.

“I was one of the champions of Back To South Governorship Rotation. But since the decision of the party is supreme, I hereby call on all, especially the youths and o reason with me. Let’s come back home and work together because the interest of the party is uppermost. Let’s work together to win next year’s governorship election.

“I want to appeal that the youths should be given utmost attention in appointments. We are the livewire”, he stressed.

Abang, National Leader of WANBONEH explained that the stakeholders’ meeting was organized as part of the healing processes among the youths, so they can come together to deliver PDP candidates across board.

“As stakeholders, the youths have significant roles to play ahead of 2023. We know some youths are angry over the non-realisation of back-to-south arrangements in terms of the governorship. ”

Addressing the town hall meeting, the PDP governorship candidate, Onor called on the youths to come up with revolutionary ideas to change the cause of things in the days ahead of the 2023 election.

Onor who represents the central senatorial district said the youths, with a lot of energy, have a say in the state and that is why he made a forty-one-year-old lady, Emana, as his running mate.

He disclosed that those who have ruled the state in the past were in their youthful age and urged them not to allow selfish politicians to manipulate their youthful energy.

“I have worked with youths and believe in youthful energy because I was a party chairman in my youth. I am not going to lead Cross Riverians astray.

“It is high time youths stopped being manipulated by those who don’t have their interest at heart and should neither listen to people who manipulate their energy to achieve a purpose and later dump them.

He promised to empower them in practical terms once he is elected in 2023 and not on the food-on-the-table agenda.”
