The Niger State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has disclosed that candidates for various electives posts in the forthcoming general elections in the state will be determined by the party faithful.
The state party chairman Tanko Beji made disclosed
at the state expanded Zonal Executive meeting of the party for Niger East Senatorial district.
He said contestants will emerge majorly by consensus.
Addressing thousands of party faithful from the nine local government areas of the Niger East district, Beji explained that where the option fails, the party will conduct free and fair elections.
The councils are Chanchaga, Bosso, Paikoro, Munya, Rafi, Suleja, Shiroro, Tafa as well as Gurara.
“We shall consider the option of consensus for all contestable positions, where it fails then we shall conduct free and fair primaries for all candidates to emerge,” Beji told party members.
He noted that nobody has any party ticket for any aspirant in Minna, maintaining that all aspirants will be determined by the people.
The leader of the Party in the state, Senator Zaynab A. Kure in her speech prayed for the restoration of peace in the local government areas ravaged by insecurity.
Senator Kure said, ” The PDP won the 2015 and 2019 elections but some people did what they did and today, God is showing us himself and we need to appreciate Him. Today, the state is in a sorry state, ” Senator Kure added.
