The crisis within the Niger state Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, might have been resolved, following resolutions taken at a series of meetings held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, recently to ensure successful outing in the 2023 governorship election.
The meetings were allegedly held at the residence of the party’s gubernatorial standard bearer, Alh Isah Liman Kantig,i between the elders and executive members of the party
It was gathered that the faction of former Governor Aliyu led by Hon. Sani Kutigi was in attendance.
Newspot learnt some of the resolutions reached were that Hon. Sani Kutigi should not appeal over the recent judgement by an Abuja high Court in favour of Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi in a suit challenging his emergence as winner of the governorship primary.
At the meetings, they all resolved to ensure the success of the party in the forthcoming and that the campaign council be enlarged to accommodate the Sani Kutigi supporters in the state.
Furthermore, the members resolved that all resolutions be strictly adhered to and implemented by the Governorship candidate of the party, Alh. Kantigi to enhance unity and devoid of any division for successful outing in the governorship election.
However, when contacted, the Niger state of PDP, Barr. Tanko Beji declined comment on the resolutions reached during the series of meetings held nor if there is change in the party’s leadership in the state as at the time of filing this report.
The party, it would be recalled has been enmeshed in leadership crisis between the former governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu-led faction and the Tanko Beji side for about seven years that resulted in the removal of Aliyu as leader of Niger PDP and replaced by wife of late former Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Abdulkadir Kure, Senator Zaynab Kure.
