There are indications that the political atmosphere may not favour the All Progressives Congress APC in 2023 Governorship election in Ogun state.
Though, the party has every resources at her disposal to win the forthcoming Governorship election in the state but the crisis within party, may hinder the performance of the party in the forthcoming elections.
One of the factors that may hinder the performance of the All Progressives Congress APC in the forthcoming Governorship election, is the rancour between the former Governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and the Governor of the state, Governor Dapo Abiodun.
It should be recalled, that senator Amosun made it known to the public, that he will not support the second term Governorship ambition of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
It was earlier reported by the Tribune online, that senator Amosun stated this while he was granted an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC Yoruba.
Amosun said he would campaign for the Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC, Biyi Otegbeye in 2023 Governorship election.
It should be recalled, that Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is the senator representing Ogun state Central senatorial district at the national assembly. Therefore, Amosun and his loyalists will do everything possible to work against the second term Governorship ambition of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Another situation that may hinder the performance of APC in the state, is the defection of the APC chieftain, to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Abdulkabir Akinlade.
It was reported that Akinlade cited injustice on the part of national Leadership of the party to justify his defection to the PDP. It should be recalled that Akinlade was picked as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP in the state.
However, Akinlade’s defection to the PDP will also affect the performance of the party. The reason is that, Akinlade’s structure from the All Progressives Congress APC will be collapsed into the PDP and this will divide the bulk votes, that should be given to APC .
