The Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Revd Henry Ndukuba has forewarned that this year elections might ” make or mar the future of Nigeria.
He therefore admonished Nigerians to be determined to make a change ” considering what we have gone through in the past eight years which is not acceptable to us”.
He was speaking to the press at the end of retirement and Thanksgiving service for Very Revd Professor Chinedu Nebo at the Church of St. Cyprian, Abakpa-Nike in Enugu state.
He charged the electorate: “Let us demonstrate it in coming out, to use our PVC to vote for those people who will be able to serve this nation. People who are credible people who have the fear of God, people who have regard for you, and me the ordinary citizens of this country,”
The Primate said he kept wondering why some “who are vying for power, even when they have already made money. I don’t know what they’ are looking for.”
He lamented : “The debt profile of Nigeria is very terrible. our children and our children’s children are being put under bondage. It is possible for other nations to come and take away our airports, take away our industries and infact take away even our government because we are owing them. A debtor is a slave.
“And so if they continue to borrow in order to squander, because most of those money being borrowed, we have not seen what they have done with it.”
He queried: “They have wonderful programmes in alleviating poverty, but how many poor people have they really been helped.
“But we are trusting God that whoever is coming in will be somebody who will serve the people.”
