The House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has alleged that the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano, Murtala Sule Garo is a mole in the party, because he is working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This is even as he refuted the trending story that he sent a delegation of party members to beg Garo, also a former Kano State Commissioner for Local Government, after exchanging of blows between them over the weekend.

Doguwa said he did not authorize anyone to visit Garo on his behalf and described the notion of him begging the former Commissioner as an insult.

The Majority Leader said he has been receiving calls and text messages from worried party faithful since the misleading story became public and felt the need to correct the wrong impression.

“It is Murtala Garo who should be apologizing to me, not the other way around. How can I beg him or send people to beg him? Who is he in politics? What is his political rating in Kano? If Murtala Garo is seeking political relevance, he will not get in by insulting me or misleading the public about our encounter in the Deputy Governor’s house where he claimed that I attacked him. I did not attack him. I am a mature and cultured person, a respected family man, a traditional title holder (Sarduanan Rano), and the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives”.

Doguwa explained that he held a meeting with his constituents which lasted up until 2am yesterday and they were not happy with the vituperations from Murtala Garo’s side. He said he had to restrain his supporters from going to deal with the former Commissioner because he is a man of peace and will not encourage violence or any action that will disrupt public peace.

“Although I was able to calm them down, angry youth still ordered all APC flags to be flown at half mast for 48hours to show their anger”.

Hon Doguwa called on Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to urgently wade into the issue in the interest of the party.

“If not handled promptly, this matter could affect APC’s chances in the next elections”, he said.
