The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has identified qualifications that would determine the presidential candidate it will support in 2023.
AYCF National President, Yerima Shettima, said the group would pick its presidential candidate based on competency and experience.
Speaking with Newspot, Shettima said AYCF would not consider region, zone, or tribe in deciding the presidential
candidate to work with.
According to Shettima: “Arewa youths stand for competency, experience, and judging by the antecedents of the character we are likely going to work with.
“We have not made an official statement regarding who we will work with, but we will do that soon.
“Region and where a candidate comes from won’t count in this coming election; we won’t be favorable to the zone, tribe, or religion this time around.”
No fewer than 18 candidates are contesting in the 2023 presidential election.
The candidates are from the All Progressives Congress, APC, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, Accord Party, Action Alliance, African Action Congress, African Democratic Congress.
Others are, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Allied People’s Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, National Rescue Movement, Peoples Redemption Party, Social Democratic Party, Young Progressives Party, and Zenith Labour Party.
