In a remarkable show of faith, unity, and spiritual reflection, Governor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State dedicated the beginning of his third year in office to God through a power-packed 3-day Prayer Summit, themed “Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn” (Isaiah 60:3). The summit, held from June 11–13, 2025, at the International Christian Worship Centre, Uyo, served as a spiritual rededication of the state and a symbolic handover of governance to divine guidance.

🛬 A Triumphant Return from France

Before the summit began, Governor Eno returned from the United Nations Ocean Conference Special Event on Ocean Resilience in Nice, France, to a thunderous welcome at the Victor Attah International Airport. The jubilant crowd was described by the Governor as a “surprise gift,” particularly significant following his recent political transition from the PDP to APC, with his political base still solidly behind him.

🎉 Earlier in the week, Governor Eno also extended birthday wishes to Dr. Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, lauding her compassion and commitment to the vulnerable, and to Ide Owodiong, Chairman of AKICORP, for his dedication to the ARISE Agenda and the development of Akwa Ibom State.

✨DAY ONE: Drop the Measuring Tape

Renowned Ghanaian preacher Dr. Mensa Otabil delivered the opening message, urging Akwa Ibomites to let go of human limitations in their vision for the state. Drawing from Zechariah 2:1-5, he preached that Akwa Ibom, like Jerusalem, is destined for immeasurable greatness. “Drop your standard measuring line,” he admonished, “and embrace God’s divine blueprint.”

Former CAN Chairman Rev. Dr. Ndueso Ekwere charged citizens to recognize and walk in the extraordinary light that makes Akwa Ibom attractive to the world. The night ended with worship, intercessory prayers, and scriptural reflections attended by government officials, clergy, and citizens alike.

🔥DAY TWO: Maximize Your God-Given Gifts

Apostle Lawrence Achudume of Victory Life Bible Church (Ogun State) encouraged citizens to harness their individual talents to actualize the ARISE Agenda. Preaching from 1 Corinthians 12:1-7, he declared that every Akwa Ibomite is born with potential to contribute to the state’s prosperity.

Echoing this, Apostle Dr. Samuel Effiong from Eket emphasized the role of light as a divine magnet for transformation. “Stand up for good deeds,” he urged, “so your light may draw kings and nations to Akwa Ibom.”

🙏DAY THREE: Unity, Peace, and Character

Governor Umo Eno took center stage to appreciate the people of Akwa Ibom for turning out in large numbers to pray, declaring the summit a symbol of unity and collective hope for the State.

In his sermon, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Nuhu Kure of Throneroom Trust Ministry, Kaduna, pronounced prophetic blessings and urged Akwa Ibom to maintain its spiritual light to draw global attention and divine favor.

Rev. Emmanuel Iniama from Eket wrapped up with a profound message: “Character deficit is worse than budget deficit.” He emphasized that unity and personal integrity are the foundations for sustained progress in both leadership and society.

As the curtains fell on the spiritually charged gathering, Governor Eno renewed his vow to lead with humility and grace. He called on citizens to avoid needless opposition, respect differing opinions, and remain united for the continued growth of Akwa Ibom.

“Let us all align with the good of the state. At the end of it all, I believe we’ll all thank God for choosing the path of unity and progress,” the Governor declared.

With prayers lifted and hearts aligned, Akwa Ibom marches boldly into its third year under Governor Eno, shining brighter on the national and international stage.
