The escalating conflict between Israel and Iran has taken a new turn as Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a stern warning following Israel’s devastating overnight airstrikes, which targeted Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure in what is now dubbed Operation Rising Lion.
In a statement shared by state-affiliated platforms and reposted by CDM on Truth Social, Khamenei condemned the attacks as a “heinous crime on Iranian soil”, accusing the “Zionist regime” of striking residential areas and killing top military officials and scientists. The statement warned Israel of a “bitter and painful fate”, asserting that Iran’s powerful armed forces would respond decisively.
“By God’s will, the powerful hand of Iran’s Armed Forces will not let this go unanswered,” Khamenei stated, confirming that a number of commanders and scientists were martyred and that their missions would continue without delay.
This comes as the Israeli government confirmed that the operation, launched late Thursday, would continue for days, with hundreds of precision airstrikes already executed across Iran. Major casualties reportedly include IRGC top commanders, such as General Hossein Salami and Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani, alongside nuclear scientist Fereydoun Abbasi.
The IAEA also confirmed that one of the primary targets was Natanz, Iran’s key uranium enrichment facility. While radiation levels are still under monitoring, the agency is actively communicating with inspectors still in-country.
Meanwhile, tensions are rising globally:
- The U.S. has distanced itself from the operation while warning Iran not to target American interests.
- New York and Washington, D.C. have increased security around Jewish and Israeli facilities.
- Iranian-backed militias across the Middle East have reportedly been placed on high alert.
Global analysts warn that the region may be on the brink of a larger war, as both sides escalate rhetoric and military action. The question now is not whether Iran will retaliate—but when and how.
